Sparkle & Shine...It's Birthday Time~Birthday-Day

Hubby & I started a tradition for Elyse's gifting occasions that I truly love...we decide on one BIG gift to give her together and then we each split the rest of the budget and buy gifts separately.  This keeps it a surprise for more than just Elyse & we also get to pick out things that we are both partial to.

This year her big gift was a kitchen.  I found this one on Amazon and fell in love with it.  It's the perfect size for her & will hopefully last for many years and probably eventually more kiddos.  She's already played with it so much and I know that we're going to have a blast "cooking" and "baking" each day!  (Disclosure:  It's of wonderful quality, but did take Hubby & I 2 1/2 hours to assemble...totally worth it, but just a heads up!)

The bed-head birthday girl!
I took off work to spend the day decorating and playing with the birthday girl, but we opened the rest of her presents as soon as she woke up before Daddy went to work.  She definitely has the whole "present opening" thing down!

WEGOS!!!

Momma Help!
A talking Mike from Daddy!
I was going to get all Pinteresty for her birthday breakfast, but this girl loves nothing more than "Noguts" aka donut holes from our local donut shop.  So...Daddy hopped in the car after presents and went to get breakfast.  She was THRILLED!!!

I popped two candles in them and we had our first rendition of "Happy Birthday" which Elyse calls..."Happy Two!" She even caught on to blowing out the candles--she just didn't quite blow hard enough!

After a busy morning of playing with our new toys, Daddy came home and picked us up for lunch.  We headed out to Elyse's favorite place...Wendy's!  She loves her some Wendy's nuggets and fries...this girl put away 6 nuggets, half a box of fries, and half of her sweet tea!  We LOVE Wendy's!!!
My little fashionista all dressed up for lunch!

My little hambone!

Mom...are you done taking pictures of me yet?!?
My parents, aka Gigi & Papa, also joined us for lunch and went ahead and brought over there presents after Elyse scarfed down her nuggets.  This just cut down on the quantity of presents that needed to be opened on Friday night.
A new "kids" movie...or a DVD of praise songs by Hillsong.

Definitely has the unwrapping thing down!

I played the trumpet for 8 years from 5th grade to my senior year in high school...and my parents bougth her her very first trumpet!  She loves it!
After presents from Papa & Gigi it was time for a nap...and then it was party time!  Oh what a party we had!

Happy Birthday to Elyse!! What fun! Also, I have to tell you that we have the same kitchen in pink. I bought it as a Christmas present 2 years ago. My husband started assembling it on Christmas Eve (late) and was up for several hours in the wee morning trying to finish it! For some reason, he could never get the feet on it so we just left them off.

Is that the Kidcraft kitchen?! I've been swooning over the Pottery Barn kids one, but can't justify paying the price. This looks like a great alternative. Happy Birthday to your princess!

That kitchen is too cute - I love your gifting ideas for her. How fun!

I can't beleive how much she's growing up. Isn't it fun to watch our kiddoes grow up via blogland? (o:

Happy Birthday to your pretty girl!

What a lucky little birthday girl!!! I love the way you do birthday presents with neither or you knowing what the other got. :-)
