While Elyse being sick normally would have kept us from having too many weekend plans, this weekend that wasn't an option. Saturday our current small group + our old small group helped host the 2nd Annual Drive Out Hunger. A charity golf tournament to benefit the backpack program in our local school district.
This year we had 72 golfers, and over 30 local business who either sponsored a hole, provided a door prize, or donated goods/services to help out. And it was a huge success. Hubby & one of the other men in the group pretty much head up the entire event, but there were 14 of us total who showed up on Saturday to work and did all sorts of extra things beforehand to make sure the tourney went smoothly! We had those in charge of food services, door prize donations, hole sponor donations, supply pick-up, and then of course the day of the tournament we all had duties to perform.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we are all so thrilled that we should be able to write a check to our local charity for over $6000! Not a bad donation for a few hours work!

We've already got next year's event on the calendar for August 16, 2014! While it's quite a bit of work leading up to it, it's so wonderful to serve and give back to our community in such a tangible way. All it takes is a little bit of organization and a lot of willing hands & feet!
