2nd Annual Drive Out Hunger

While Elyse being sick normally would have kept us from having too many weekend plans, this weekend that wasn't an option.  Saturday our current small group + our old small group helped host the 2nd Annual Drive Out Hunger.  A charity golf tournament to benefit the backpack program in our local school district.
This year we had 72 golfers, and over 30 local business who either sponsored a hole, provided a door prize, or donated goods/services to help out.  And it was a huge success.  Hubby & one of the other men in the group pretty much head up the entire event, but there were 14 of us total who showed up on Saturday to work and did all sorts of extra things beforehand to make sure the tourney went smoothly!  We had those in charge of food services, door prize donations, hole sponor donations, supply pick-up, and then of course the day of the tournament we all had duties to perform.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we are all so thrilled that we should be able to write a check to our local charity for over $6000!  Not a bad donation for a few hours work!
Our fearless leader getting everything going...

A gorgeous day for a golf tournament!

Thanks to Pinegar Chevrolet for their corporate sponsorship of the event!

The food committee...this was a great addition!

Our fearless leader making sure everything is still running smoothly...

Check out all those door prizes...we had over 25 prizes to give away to the participants!

Time to serve it up...

Our putting contest...a very popular addition this year!

Serving up the burgers & dogs as the golfers came through the turn or finished up...

I promise they were all working just a few minutes before this picture...ha!

Thanks to Coors Light & a local accounting office for being two other big sponsors!

Two of our fabulous ladies coming in from their morning duties of witnessing the
"hole-in-one" hole...too bad nobody hit one!

Check out that line at the putting contest!

Everyone chilling after the round and wiating for the results!

My grandpa & me...gosh I love this man!

Most all of the group that came from our church...we had 3 teams this year & hopefully more next year!

Hubby giving the results...

& handing out the prizes!

We had some kiddos there to help with handing out prizes this year!

Our I love these people and their willingness to serve!
We've already got next year's event on the calendar for August 16, 2014!  While it's quite a bit of work leading up to it, it's so wonderful to serve and give back to our community in such a tangible way.  All it takes is a little bit of organization and a lot of willing hands & feet!
