Weekend Rewind & the 10 Second Kiss...

Well to say this was a typical summer weekend seems right, but the only non-typical thing about it was our lack of plans! Woohoo! We had the whole weekend to ourselves and enjoyed every minute of it!

Friday was date night with dinner & a Redbox. We went to dinner at a local Chinese restaurant (our own local version of PF Changs, and much better in my opinion!) and then grabbed some froyo at one of the many places that have popped up around town. This one was called FruityLand and while it didn't have as many flavors as Orange Leaf, it was just as yummy. After dessert, we headed home to grab a movie from Redbox and relax on the couch. I actually stayed awake until almost 10:30...which is quite the accomplishment right now! ha! We rented The Mechanic, and it was decent...a little rough though, I definitely hid my eyes during more than one scene!

Saturday included another lazy Saturday morning with us not getting out of bed until close to 10! But during the afternoon Hubby & I headed our own separate ways. He was off to a golf tournament...Hot, yes, ridiculous! And I was the smarter one and headed down to my parents' house with Bogey for some pool time. My dad ended up helping out for most of the afternoon at an event at their church so mom & I just chilled in the water the entire afternoon. It couldn't have been more perfect! Hubby & I met back up last night and did pretty much nothing...definitely my kind of Saturday!

It was another hot one today, so unless your plans included being in the water somehow, somewhere...air-conditioning was the only option. We headed to church for a little bit different service than usual. This weekend another couple at our church hosted a small marriage workshop. Hubby & I didn't attend, but I'm definitely wishing we would have! Our band performed Michael Buble's "Everything" and then the couple did a quick sermon on "Slaying the Dragons of Marriage." It was a great talk & definitely more like a large workshop group, than an actual sermon. At one point when they were talking about adding a little spark to your marriage they had all the married couples stand up. They explained that normally when one or both of you come home from work, it's a quick kiss on the cheek or lips and then off to whatever else is on the schedule for the evening. In the middle of the church, they asked all married couples to kiss for 10 seconds. I'm not even joking. He counted to 10 outloud as all of us married couples stood and kissed each other. It would have been quite the thing to see! A little awkward, but definitely an important point....I think maybe Hubby & I will try that every night just as they suggested!

After a quick lunch, we headed to annual home tour in our area. Each year our local magazine sponsors an Idea Home that is normally some multi-million dollar home that you could never afford but the amenities and designs are definitely worth the price of admission!

417 Idea Home

Even when Hubby & I were dating, one of our favorite things to do was drive around in neighborhoods with monstrous houses just dreaming of what someday might be our dream house. It's so fun to dream about what's possible (somewhere A LONG way down the road)!

We spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch enjoying the a/c and then finished off the weekend with burgers on the grill and homemade fries. Hubby was trying to wait until it cooled off to get the mowing done, but I honestly don't know if there's going to be any actual cooling off. Thankfully he's almost done, and we've got brownies, ice cream, & fresh strawberries to finish off a fabulous weekend!
