A Day to Celebrate Moms

Well as would be expected, this year Mother's Day holds a special place in my heart as it's my very first Mother's Day.  The very first time that I'll attend church with my beautiful family of three and be able to stand when the pastor recognizes all the mother's in the room.

It's true, last year at Mother's Day I was already a mom.  I was already preparing for the arrival of Elyse, but no one could have prepared me for the overflowing amount of love I feel for her each & every day.  Of course, no one could have prepared me for the anxiety & frustration & overflowing tears that I experience on a regular basis either...but if I have to spend the rest of my life loving this precious baby girl, then I can't think of anything much better.
But believe it or not, this post isn't about me. Because let's face it, there's been enough pictures & stories over the past 4 1/2 months in regards to me being a mom. Nope...this post is a tribute to my momma. The one who gave birth to me 29 years ago, and the one who made me who I am today.
Thanks for your love & support before Elyse arrived...

& for your love & mercy & grace & encouragement as she arrived that cold day in December...

& for loving her almost as much as I do...almost!

& for being a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on as I've navigated my own motherhood path...

& for being the best babysitter a momma could ask for!

As I've spent the last 4 1/2 months in the club of motherhood, it's become increasingly obvious that I couldn't have done this without so much love & support from my momma, but also my fabulous mother-in-law.  For some reason, God saw it right for me to have another woman in my life who loves me as her own & provides continued love & encouragement.  I never could have hoped for a better relationship with my mother-in-law...it's truly such a blessing.

And honestly as I look back on my new life as a mother, maybe one of the greatest blessings of all is the fact that Elyse has had the chance to meet not one, but two of her great grandma's.
They love her to pieces and this is certainly a treasure that I know not many little girls get to experience.  I'm so incredibly thankful that my grandmother's have had the opportunity to experience my precious baby girl & love on her in ways that only an experienced "grandma" can.
Happy Mother's Day to ALL the mom's out there...enjoy your precious babies, the time is already passing so quickly!
